Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty
One of the first things you notice about a person is their eyes. Not surprisingly, many people are self-conscious about the appearance of aging skin near the eyes, as they feel it makes them look tired or older than they really are. Fortunately, you can restore your youth and smooth the skin around your eyes with a simple rejuvenation procedure known as upper eyelid blepharoplasty.
As you grow older, the skin above your eyelids becomes thin and crepe-like. It stretches and folds over the eyelid “platform” (where women would normally apply eyeshadow), which results in a tired, aged sad or angry look. In most people, the fat that was previously held by young, firm tissue has prolapsed forward, which creates puffy mounds of skin in the corner of the upper eyelid. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty removes extra skin and fat that accumulates around the eyes with age.
Dr. North is a board-certified plastic surgeon who spent years studying reconstructive eye surgery. She specializes in preserving the youthful appearance of the eyelids and surrounding skin. Dr. North is also trained to preserve the natural function of the eyelids, which is to protect the health of the eyes.
During an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, Dr. North takes care to hide the incisions in the natural creases of the upper eyelid. The result is a younger, happier and more rested appearance with no visible scars. Since changes to the upper eyelid rarely occur in isolation, upper eyelid blepharoplasty is commonly performed in conjunction with lower eyelid blepharoplasty.
