My interest in eyecare started when I realized how simple it can be to change a person’s life by helping them see better. I remember how shocked one newly bespectacled boy was when he was able to see that there were leaves on trees; and each individual leaf had a slightly different contrast. Once I started to progress in the profession, I quickly realized that eyecare involves treating disease as well as prescribing corrective lenses to patients. I enjoy managing patient’s ocular disease, including dry eyes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. I also enjoy correlating someone’s ocular health with certain underlying systemic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. It really is amazing what we can learn by looking at a person’s eyes. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hiking, traveling, and eating different delicious foods.
